District collector of Pune, Chandrakant Dalvi has declared holiday on 13th October, the voting day.
It is mandatory for all the government and non-government organizations to give the paid holiday on 13Oct. Dalvi said that quick response teams would take up continuous monitoring in the district to see the closure is strictly observed.
he added.
The strict action will be taken against any organization which breaches the law. The idea behind declaring a paid holiday on 13 is to ensure that employees can exercise their right to vote.
The following numbers have been provided by the Labor department if there are any complaints. Chief election commissioner Navin Chawla, during his visit to the city last week, had said that voters are unable to vote if they are given just one hour leave on the day of voting.
District collector Chandrakant Dalvi appealed voters to exercise their right to vote on 13. He said,
The district recorded lowest voting during last general elections. The city recorded around 40% voting. This was the lowest voter turnout among cities across the sate. I appeal voters to come forward and execute their right.
