After the helping hand given by ‘Shwass’ team, now UTV Motion Picture has come forward to help the Oscar-nominated Marathi-film- ‘Harishandrachi Factory’, for the year 2009. They will handle marketing and campaigning work for the film.
UTV is believed to have campaigned for the Hindi films-‘Rang De Basanti and ‘Tare Zamin Par when they were nominated for the Oscars.
UTV is known to campaign for the Bollywood as well as some films from abroad, but this act shows that now UTV has started considering Marathi film industry seriously. ‘Harishandrachi Factory’ will be screened world over with the help of UTV.
The film is written and directed by Paresh Mokashi, is a biographical account of the founding father of the Film industry of our country -Dadasaheb Phalke.
UTV has shown interest in the Marathi film industry and so agreed to market and campaign for the movie in the US and in India with the Paprika Media. Movie revenues will be shared by both-UTV and the Paprika Media.
This 90 minute film is all set to hit the theatres in India by December, sources confirmed.
While talking to the reporters, Ssidharth Roy Kapur, the CEO of the UTV said,
With the experience of campaigning for Oscar nominated Rang De Basanti and Taare Zameen Par, UTV has decided to campaign for Harishchandrachi Factory’, which is the first Marathi film distributed by us.
We are going to target the universities, publishing houses, journals, publishing reviews in journals and advertisement with an intention to market and campaign the movie successfully, said a member.
Currently there is much crowd for Hindi films right now, which should not affect the release of this movie. UTV is planning to release the movie not only in Maharashtra, but also in metros like Delhi, Kolkata that has a movie watching community interested in regional language cinema
Kapur said.
Shrirang Godbole, executive producer of Harishchandrachi Factory’ and I will visit New York in November. Along with the new distributors, we will start campaigning thereafter. Unlike general category for the films where some 6,000 juries vote, only 600 jury members vote for foreign language category films. Through special shows at various cities and universities, a buzz would be created to attract the attention of juries. We have already done our home-work for Oscars and would be there for more than a month to campaign
