A seminar on Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act, 1999 was organized by the Pune District Legal Services Authority (PDLSA) in association with A K Khan New Law Academy, Pune.
Rasheed Shaikh, Principal of NLA and dean faculty of law, UoP (University of Pune) welcomed and felicitated the guests who were present for the seminar organized to promote and create awareness among the students about this heinous activity of ragging.
Shaikh while delivering the welcome address apprised the students of the anti- ragging committee and anti- ragging squad of the academy. He said that, since so many years, there has been hardly any case of such incidence of ragging in the 27 institutes operational at Azam campus, Pune Cantonment.
R K Malabade, PDLSA secretary said that ragging affects the students both physically and mentally. It also spoils their career and thus, it is our important responsibility to generate awareness among students about ragging.
Umeshchandra More, Civil Judge, junior division and judicial magistrate first class who was in charge of the function. He laid down the details of ragging incidences which occur to students and appealed to them to put into effect a caution while getting education as law students.
S D Ratnaparkhi, lawyer also presented some of thought- provoking incidences to the students about different provisions of Maharashtra Prohibition Ragging Act, 1999.
Paval Thaorey introduced the guest wherein while concluding, Shweta Gupta presented a vote of thanks.
