Agatha urges city institutions to open the doors of education for all students

An alumnus of the city based ILS Law College, Agatha Sangama, who just became the Minister of the State and the Rural Development in the second term of the UPA Government, was in the city on Friday. She was invited by ILS Law College to deliver a lecture on ‘Role of Youth in Politics.’
While speaking on the role of the youth in Indian politics, she said over MNS’s approach towards North Indians/students, that the developed state like Maharashtra should open the gates of education for all students coming from all over India rather than targeting them.
She was speaking to the reporters followed by the interaction with the students of the Foundation for the Liberal and Management Education (FLAME) and the students of the ILS law College.

I have also studied in this city and I owe a lot to it. We should not mix issues of politics with education. Moreover, every citizen of the country has right to get education anywhere in the country. We cannot restrict them,” she said adding that Pune is respected by the students from all over India as it’s a hub for the education.
When asked about the dynastic politics as children of the ex- leaders are getting into the field, she said “Yes I do agree that Indian politics is becoming a dynastic in nature day by day, but it just helps you to enter the politics. You have to prove your mettle while being active in the politics

she added.
Also talked about her role as an environmentalist, she said that

politicians like us are fresh air in the system and we will help eradicate the pollution

she said.
In a two-hour discussion, she talked about many things ranging from her political experience, the reservation for women in politics and the pollution issue.

She also got a bit nostalgic about the college days she spent in the city.

We used to hang out at the places like Deccan, Fergusson College and some other places. Those were the best days in my life which help my cultural upbringing

she said.
