A large number of Pune bound passengers faced a lot of inconvenience on Sunday evening at the Delhi Airport as a technical problem in the Air India’s (AI) Delhi Pune Flight IC- 849 held them up for almost two-and-a-half hours. As a result of this delay even the Delhi-bound return flight IC-850 got delayed and its take off from Pune had to be rescheduled at 9.10 pm.
It was hard for the passengers however, to keep their temper as they were very much frustrated by the “abject indifference” of the AI officers to their queries over the delay. Correspondents talked to the passengers and passengers complained regarding poor customer service provided by the AI staff at the Delhi airport.
One of the passengers said, “The airline did not give us any advance intimation about the problem with the aircraft, while the officials at the airport were simply not bothered to give us satisfactory replies. We are totally disappointed by this approach considering that such delays are happening more often than not for AI’s service on the Delhi-Pune route.”
The A-320 AI Airbus is operated on the Delhi-Pune-Delhi route on daily basis. The airbus has a seating capacity of 160-odd passengers. The flight’s official take-off time from Delhi is 4 pm and the landing time at the Pune airport is 6 pm and again it takes-off for the return journey at 6.40 pm. However, on Sunday, it was only around 6.30 pm that the Pune-bound passengers could board the flight at the Delhi airport.
Another passenger said, “We were first told around 3.30 pm that there is some problem with the aircraft and the take-off has since been rescheduled to 5.30 pm. Still at 5.30 pm, the AI officials kept saying that it will take some more time for the flight to take-off and this is a very poor approach,”
When correspondents contacted the AI staffer at the Pune airport he confirmed that the flight had taken off from Delhi around 6.30 pm. “Our airport manager Ashok Chandanshive is presently busy attending passengers,” said he. “The Pune-Delhi flight would take-off at 9.10 pm,” he added.
