In order instill meditative qualities amongst the students, All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) is brooding over the issue of introducing Yoga in regular curriculum, said Dr. Ved Prakash, UGC vice –chairman on Sunday.
Dr Ved announced this at the sixth international conference on ‘Yoga Research and Cultural Synthesis’ at Kaivalyadharna, Lonavala. He was speaking at the inauguration function in Lonavala on Sunday.
The number of people turning to Yoga is on the rise. The seminar has invited experts from all parts of the world. Experts on Yoga from various countries like South America, North America, Asian and Europe were present at the conference.
While talking about the growing popularity and the importance of Yoga across the globe, professor of Harvard Medical School, Dr. Sat Bir Khalsa said,
In the United States, more than 6 per cent of the Americans practice yoga. Most of the healthcare institutions and hospitals (in US) have a separate department on yogic research. Yogic education is getting a fair amount of academic space in schools and colleges.
The conference is going to witness about 1.200 participants in the week-long international conference. Participants are anticipated to emanate from countries including China, Germany, Argentina, Korea, US, France, Brazil, Greece, Russia and Japan.
The conference will help to discus the reach of the Yoga and how it has changed the lives of the people across the globe.
Yoga is a school, which employs the power of meditation to instill the physical and mental discipline in human beings who practice it on the regular basis. It is also utilized for healing, and improving your muscular power
said Justice BN Srikrishna, former chief justice of the Supreme Court and chairman of the organizing committee.
Yoga scholar Dider Mengou of Kaivalyadham France explained that the institute was started with a single teacher and now there are 60 Yogic experts at the institute. Dr Alicia Souto, a budding yoga expert said that Yoga is becoming the part of daily exercise of the people all over South American Countries. Counties like Argentina and Brazil are researching Yoga in connection with medical topics such as anorexia, among others.
