Pune is slowly emerging as one of the metropolitans of the country, and once a city with a carpet of greenery is sadly becoming an urban jungle. However, Puneites have the opportunity to get a taste of the forgotten village life at the Anand Mela 2011, organized by Sayaji Park. As per the plan, a village with an investment of more than Rs 25 lakh will be created near Donje, Singhad. The mela, which will be spread across an area of 27 acres, is scheduled to be inaugurated on April 21 at 5 pm by Vijay Singh Mohite Patil, Chairman, Maharashtra State Cooperative Sugar Federation, Mumbai, along with his grandson Sayaji Raje Sangram Singh Mohite Patil.
Puneites can breathe in some fresh village air from April 22 to May 8 between 3 pm and 8 pm. By bringing more than 650 artists together, the organizers have replicated old professions of chaudi, talim, vedic shiksha, chabar, taili and have recreated 125 home structures. The village will also have a fort and, as per the plan, a popular play titled, ‘Gada ala pan sinh gela’ will be showcased where more than 60 artists will perform.
Jaysinh Mohite Patil, event organizer, said, “In today’s time people have actually forgot what village life is made up of, and so the mela is an initiative to bring it alive in its most basic form. We have been working on this project for more than four months and we are happy that the fair is finally being organized in the city.”
Designed by Lalit Chikhalkar, the entire village on display is movable, and the fair will also travel to other places in Maharashtra. Visitors will certainly have a treat of your life as they will witness the rare art of reading, to the ancient script of Barakhadi to the traditional art of dandpata, lathibothati and weight lifting. The PMPML in support of the entire initiative has arranged to and fro bus transport for the same from Sarasbaug, Shaniwarwada and Dhairyee Phata. One can catch the last bus from the venue that will ply at 11pm on all days of the event.
“I have heard a lot about this mela from my friends and I am eager to go witness the day it is made open for the visitors. Actually, the mela will be a great learning experience for children, who are used to the city life, to witness the charm and purity of a village atmosphere. I don’t thing other than this they will ever feel like going to an actual village and stay there for sometime. Hats off to the artists and event managers who have come up with such an attempt and I am sure that the show will be a great success and Puneites will come out in full support of it,” says Madhuri Phadke, a resident of Kalyani Nagar.

I believe what you published made a great deal of sense. But, what about this? what if you typed a catchier title? I mean, I don’t want to tell you how to run your blog, however suppose you added a headline to possibly grab folk’s attention? I mean Anand Mela 2011 is a little boring. You should look at Yahoo’s home page and note how they create post titles to grab viewers to open the links.
