HSC and SSC exams are about to get over and instead of enjoying their heart outs, children are spending sleepless nights thinking which stream to choose in the future. Well, the time to press the panic button is yet to come, as there are many guidance centers across Pune that have come up with innovative aptitude and skill tests to guide children in choosing the right stream.
There have always been students who have been certain right from the beginning which road to conquer, but there are also few who face immense difficulty in gazing their aptitude and the pros and cons of different streams in offer. These effective tests help students streamline options by making them aware what they are good at.
Pune-based career counselor Sumeet Deshpande, who conducts such aptitude tests for students, says, “I have been holding these kinds of aptitude tests for the past 10 years now, and earlier, not more than 10-15 students took the test. However, during the last couple of years the outlook has changed and the numbers of students opting for the tests have increased. The reason might be the growing awareness among the masses about the helpfulness of these tests. Currently, more than 300 students visit me for the test.”
Psychologist Dr Sharmila Vaidya conducts a worldwide recognized test. “Way back in the year 1996 I began with the tests. But at that time parents considered these tests to be nothing but mere waste of money. Furthermore, there has always been a tendency in India where parents force their children to opt for a particular stream, without even considering his or her interests and abilities. Ultimately a child would suffer and it often leads to depression and hypertension. However, there has been a change in attitude now with more and more students deciding to take these tests before making an important career decision. This year I have been already approached by more then 200 students. Maximum students come in between the time period of March and May.” The tests can cost anywhere between Rs 750 and Rs 1,000.
In spite of the growing popularity of the tests, there is also a flipside to it. There are many parents who tell their children, studying in class III and IV, to take these tests in order to judge their skills and accordingly prepare them for the future. This in turn puts a lot of pressure on the child, which can hamper their normal growth. According to Vaidya, these teats are best for those studying in class X and XII, for that is the perfect time when they need to decide which stream they need to opt for.
Dr Varun Deshpande, father of a student who took an aptitude test, is relatively happy with the results. “My son Abhay was confused a lot and was finding it difficult to trace his strong points. So, he decided to take the test and realized that he has better skills in music and biology. Abhay is about to finish his SSC exams and he was always good in biology. But the test instilled confidence in him and now he knows which stream he needs to choose after his exams get over.”

I have incuded a website and email address. I think it is ok that I incuded them since there seems to be a place to do that. Hope so anyway. TheVeryBest2You 13 9

Growing up in a city where most of the young African-American young people were more interested in fashion, and video games- I think this approach is refreshing. I don’t think the writer is talking about bribing young people for financial gain in the name of registering to vote. It’s good to see people thinking about different non traditional ways to approach today’s young people especially in urban corners in our country. I don’t know if anyone has been paying attention to voter registration numbers since 2005- but they are going down amongst the demographic I think the writer is talking about. I don’t see how this perpetuates that he is not interested in young people educational achievement I think he is talking about grasping their attention using their own interests and teaching from within that realm. I love the idea and I would volunteer to promote this, if it materializes.

I don?t know if greatest practices have emerged around things like that, however I am sure that your job is clearly identified as a good game. Great blog! Do you have any helpful hints for aspiring writers? I’m hoping to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost on everything. Would you propose starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many options out there that I’m totally overwhelmed .. Any suggestions? Appreciate it!

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

My developer is trying to persuade me to move to .net from PHP. I have always disliked the idea because of the costs. But he’s tryiong none the less. I’ve been using WordPress on several websites for about a year and am nervous about switching to another platform. I have heard fantastic things about blogengine.net. Is there a way I can transfer all my wordpress content into it? Any help would be really appreciated!
