In honor of Kirana Gharana maestro Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, renowned artistes like Ustan Rashid Khan, Shubha Mudgal and Rahul Deshpande, will be among 24 artistes who will perform in a daylong concert, entitled ‘Swarashraddhanjali’. The concert is scheduled on Thursday at Gharkul lawns, D P Road, Patwardhan Baug, Pune from 8 am to 10 pm.
Each artist will enthrall the audience with a 30-minute performance. Others who are going to sing in the glory of the legendary Hindustani classical singer include, Pandit Bhimsen Joshis’s son and disciple Shriniwas Joshi, tabla exponent Pandit Suresh Talwalkar, Shaunak Abhisheki, Pandit Raghunandan Panshikar, Anand Bhate, Manjusha Patil, Padma Talwalkar, Arati Ankalikar-Tikekar, Devaki Pandit, Uday Bhavalkar, Jayateerth Mevundi, Pandit Kaivalya Kumar Gurav, Amaan Ali Khan, Venkatesh Kumar, Rahul Deshpande, Pandit Ajay Pohankar, Kalpana Zokarkar, harmonium player Pandit Tulsidas Borkar, flautist Rupak Kulkarni, Bharatanatyam exponents Sucheta Bhide-Chapekar and Arundhati Patwardhan and Kathak artistes Sheetal Kolwalkar and Kaveri Agashe.
Aneesh Pradhan, Vijay Ghate, Subhash Kamat, Bharat Kamat, Prashant Pandav, Satyajeet Talwalkar, Nikhil Phatak and Nilesh Randive on the tabla, Mauli Takalkar on the ‘taal’, Manik Munde on the pakhwaj, and many other musicians, will accompany the artists. “The concert is absolutely free for the music lovers. The performing artistes, too, have decided to take part in this program without charging a single penny. We are expecting to have a crowd of several thousands,” said Govind Bedekar, one of the organizers of the event.
The musical extravaganza will begin with a Kathak performance by Kolwalkar and Agashe. ‘Swarshraddhanjali’ includes participations by Pune-based organizations like DV Kanebua Pratishthan and Sangeet Kala Anand, Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Baithak, Taalchakra, among others.
