As the Ganesh festival is about to come to an end, thousands of devotees plan to visit the various Ganpati pandals to pay homage to Lord Ganesha.
Usually, most of the devotees from the city and neighboring town visit the pandals for darshan towards the end of the festival. This is because most of the families cannot go out as they are busy celebrating the festival with their families and last weekend, the rains forced many people to stay indoors.
However, because of the bomb blast in New Delhi, the police have plans to see that nothing goes wrong as the festival ends. The Pune police has also made many preparations to see to it the when these people visit the pandals there are no stampedes. They have also made adequate arrangements to see to it that during the immersion procession nothing goes wrong.
They have already banned the vehicular movement on several roads (http://www.punesite.com/restrictions-traffic-and-loudspeakers-for-punekars.html ) and also within 100 meters radius of the main pandals of Pune, where they expect people to throng about. They have appealed to all these mandals to install CCTV cameras in their premises. The top police officials have done a through surveillance of these mandals and also of the public places where the immersion will take place.
Chandrakant Kumbhar said, “The CCTV cameras on parking spots will help the police in keeping watch on the activities of the suspects’ He also said that, “One can easily park a vehicle carrying bomb and leave the place. To avoid such an incident, we have imposed ban on vehicles within the 100-metre periphery of prominent mandals. We have started removing such vehicles from Thursday afternoon.”
Keeping in mind the bomb blast in the capital city, they have decided to keep a close surveillance on the procession with the help of the CCTV cameras. They plan to monitor various slum areas with CCTV cameras with the help of mandals and welfare organizations.
Apart from the arrangements made by the police, it is the responsibility of all the citizens of Pune to be alert when they go to visit these pandals or join the immersion procession. Rather than just stomping their feet to the beats of the dhol tashas, they should also come forward and cooperate with the police. May The Lord of wisdom and the Remover of Obstacles make this festival a happy one for us.

Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.
