In a turn of events, things finally seem to be looking up for German Bakery. The iconic landmark that was the mark of a terrorist attack on the city of Pune on Valentine’s Day earlier this year is ready to get back in business. The attack that left Puneites in a state of shock which later turned to grief for the lives lost and finally to a sense of determination managed to completely take out a favorite hotspot 
of locals and visitors in the city.
On the 14th of June, the government of Maharashtra sanctioned financial aid to the owners of the bakery, giving owner Shweta Kharose a cheque of 14.23 lakh for damages. The payment was made in the presence of District Collector, Chandrakant Dalvi by Pune Guardian Minister, Ajit Pawar. This was done after a lengthy assessment of the damages to the property in Koregaon Park as an effect of the bombing and a representation made to the Government by the Kharose Family.
Kharose thanked the people and the administration for their continuous support since the terror strike. She said that she was happy with the help extended to her by the officials of the government.
With a promise to make it by Independence Day 2010, Kharose said that repair work and revamping would begin this week. She along with everyone involved will be working hard to be able to reopen the much loved eatery by the 15th of August,2010.
