Editor’s Review:

An oasis in a more traditionally modern part of the city, The Pride is on the main road and yet recluse. Driving into the gates of this hotel immediately transports you into a safe zone, a welcome change from the bustling city. This hotel is located close to the academically inclined heart of Pune. Adjacent to the Agricultural College and a kilometer away from Fergusson College (and others in the vicinity), it is easily accessible and is the perfect stay for all visitors to the city. It personifies urban opulence and style with distinctive standards of excellence in hospitality.

As you walk into the lobby, you are welcome with a sense of spaciousness and a warm ambience. The waiting area has lush sofas where a wait is very comfortable. The rooms are airy and well lit and superbly convenient and comfortable. The staff at the hotel are attentive and friendly.

The hotel comes equipped with an outdoor pool named ‘Sarovar’, literally meaning the ‘sacred waters of a pool’. It measures 15 meters long and 7.5 feet at its deepest. They even serve up some refreshing lime juice while you’re in the Pool area. Their Fitness Centre is appropriately named ‘Exhale’ and comes equipped with a healthy selection of work out equipment. The hotel also provides Spa facilities and Massages all priced at a very reasonable rate.

Although the hotel doesn’t come across as a place that serves up too much fine dining, it is one of the best places to try something ethnic, new and creative. My personal favorite pick is the 24hr restaurant, Casablanca. When you’re in the mood to enjoy a scrumptiously delicious meal in a comfortable seating, with the right level of music playing in the background, this is the place to be at anytime of the day. For a more traditional taste, head onto the ‘Dhaba’ of the future: Puran-da-dhaba. Mouthwatering Indian Cuisine, Indian music and the perfect atmosphere makes dinner simplistically perfect. For a night on the slightly wilder side, X’tasy is the in-house resto-bar. Checker floored, it comes well stocked with all you could ask for and is open from 11am to a little past midnight.

Among all the hotels in the city, Best Western, Pride is among my top picks if you can afford it.
