Bhatkar Portrays an Optimistic Picture of Nuclear India

Renowned scientist Mr.Vijay Bhatkar advocated the importance of nuclear engineering in the syllabi of engineering studies. He also said that this subject will soon be introduced in the engineering colleges. The occasion was the socio technical event called Technotryst. The Cummins College of Engineering for Women has organized this two day event which was inaugurated on Friday.

Mr. Bhatkar took a general overview of India’s progress all around in the field of nuclear technology and expected a very bright picture of the country in the near future. As he said, India is signing a nuclear pact and marching ahead very fast in this area.  The entire world expects a lot from India and a lot will be done to make India a nuclear superpower. India has got immense potential and will certainly serve as the guiding light for the rest of the world as far as the wise use of nuclear power is concerned.

Bhatkar was addressing the students of the engineering college and hence he also stressed on the need of forming a new Indian generation equipped with a thorough study of Nuclear Technology. He made students aware of the future plans of the Indian Government in respect of introducing Nuclear Studies as a separate topic for engineering students.

Bhatkar portrayed an optimistic picture of Indian students learning nuclear technology. According to him, these students will go to the US and play a lion’s share in the development of nuclear plants.

The Cummins College of Engineering for Women is a college run by the Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Sanstha. The college organized the event called Technotryst in association with the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers and the student branch of the Computer Society of India. The institute has been organizing this event for the last seven consecutive years in an attempt of bridging the gap between industry and academics.

This year the event is packed with the technology seminars and presentations given by the eminent personalities in the field of industry.

In an enlivening speech delivered by Mr. Bhatkar, he also spoke about the mobile revolution in India. As he said, only one crore Indians were using mobile phones in 2002. Today the mobile subscriptions have risen to a huge number of 70 crores which is indeed a shock to the rest of the world. Instances of two crore Indian subscribers being added in a month are proof enough to boast of a tremendous progress in this field as well. Mr. Bhatkar also admired the business sense of Indian service providers and their ability to thrive in the market.

Today, a workshop on Google’s revolutionary operating system will be held between 8.30 am and 1 pm. In addition to this, a session on the career prospects for the Information technology professionals in the Finance sector has also been organized in the post lunch session.
