Dr. Jayanta Pal, professor and the Head of Department of the Biotechnology in University of Pune has honored the university by his selection at the National Academy of Sciences as a fellow.
Pal also an alumnus of the university, is a Fellow at Maharashtra Academy of Sciences. He has also been the national coordinator of the DBT-JRF programme of the Biotechnology department, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi.
Prof, Pal a well-trained researcher at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Institute of Jacques Monod, Paris is a recipient of many awards for the work he has contributed in the field of Biotechnology.
To his credit, there are around 60 papers published in the national and international journals. He has also authored a book called ‘Book in Molecular Biology.’ Currently he is serving as a head for the second term and was Chairman of Board of studies in Biotechnology and the member of the Academic Council for two consecutive terms.
The project Mr Pal is currently working on is ‘Regulation of gene expression during anemia, lead-poisoning, parasite infection and cancer.’
