Bund Garden is one of the famous gardens in Pune. Its location on the right banks of the rivers Mula and Mutha has made the garden a sheer beauty. It is just 2 km away from the Pune railway station and hence easy to reach from there.
The garden is also called the Mahatma Gandhi Udyan as the bridge built on the river here takes you to the Gandhi National Memorial on the other side.
It was Mr. Jamshedjee Jeejeebhoy who made this garden. His intent behind this construction was to provide water to the needy and the poor. The garden is nothing but a dam constructed over the rivers Mula-Mutha.
A jogging track has been added to the garden as a part of renovation work done a few years ago. The added facility has added to the popularity of the garden as many people now come here early in the morning for jogging and for morning walk.
Boat ride facility is a sheer excitement. You can enjoy the boat ride in the backwaters of the rivers Mula-Mutha.
The lush green lawns and the canopy of big trees provide cool fresh air that helps you rejuvenate. The place offers you the much needed quietude and tranquility. Owing to the thick belt of greenery here the Bund Garden is the favorite destination of many species of migratory birds in the winter season. It’s a treat to watch these birds flocking together here having covered a long distance in order to save from the severe cold.
Magic shows and horse ride here are the exciting attractions for children. These make the place popular among the children as well as among the elders.
From the Pune railway station, Bund Garden is just a five minutes drive.
Foodies need not worry. Plenty of options are available here. Refreshment stalls outside the garden offer many delicious dishes. You can enjoy bhel, panipoori, pav bhaji and spicy Chinese platter. Hotel Sun and Sand, three star hotel is just kilometer away from the garden.
