PUNE: Considering the summer’s rush of passengers during holidays, the Central Railways will be running 1,516 trains. From Pune, holiday special trains will run to Lucknow, Agra, Ahmedabad, Gorakhpur, Jaipur and Secunderabad.
The Railways operate special trains during summers from the period of April to June and during Diwali season. Pune-Secunderabad Janshatabdi express will continue to run, which has been operational since October 2010. The train will function till June 30, four days a week; that is Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
The Pune- Jaipur train will run once a week initiating April 2 to June 25. The train will depart from Pune on Sundays. On the other hand, the train will depart from Jaipur on Satudays.
Regarding the Agra train, it will leave every Tuesdays from Pune, operational from April 5 to June 28. The train will be scheduled from Agra every Wednesday. The Pune-Ahmedabad train will run every Thursday from April 8 to July 1. The train will leave from Ahmedabad every Friday.
For Gorakhpur, there are two trains planned, out of which one departs on Friday and the second one on Saturday. This train will leave on Thursdays and Sundays from Gorakhpur. All these trains will be operational during April 1 to June 26.
There are few other trains which will run on the routes of Solapur-Bijapur (daily), Kolhapur-Nagpur (bi-weekly), Latur-Solapur (daily), Nagpur-Amravati (bi-weekly), Nagpur-Ahmedabad (weekly), and Nagpur-Hatia (weekly). There are few more special trains which will be running from Shirdi to Chennai, Vishakapatnam, Bhubaneshwar, Delhi, and Yeswantpur (Bangalore).
The Railways will be operating trains from Mumbai to Sawantwadi, Varanasi, Agra, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Patna, Jabalpur, and Howrah. The bookings will start in the first week of March. Incidentally, few of the trains to be operated as holiday specials have already been announced in the railway budget 2011.
