People were left shivering with pinching cold and were seen galloping back home to avoid the sudden uneasy chilly feeling in the air.
“So far, this season the city has been witnessing above-normal temperatures. But the sudden dip in temperature was quite expected. The normal minimum temperature around this time of the year is 11 degrees,” said Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) officials
IMD officials also believe that any further dip in temperature is quite unlikely. “The reason for the chilliness in the air is a pro-rainfall system that has developed in the Bay of Bengal. This will also lead to cloudy conditions, but in the long run temperature will rise again,” said an official.
“Yesterday it got so cold suddenly. By evening, the temperature went down drastically. In the morning, the sun was out quite bright, so I didn’t bother to carry my jacket to the office. But I seriously regretted my decision by the end of the day. I was left shivering and with teeth rattling, as I drove back home. But winter is beautiful and festive. I love the cozy ambience in this season. I am glad that winter is finally setting in,” said Anupama Patil, a student in Pune.
