City-based fourteen organizations have joined hands to support to Anna Hazare’s fight against corruption.On Tuesday, Bhrashtachar Virodhi Jan Andolan Nyas, an organization fighting against corruption took out a long march from PMC (Pune Municipal Corporation) to the Balgandharva Chowk.
K D Pawar, President of the organization said, “It is a fight against corruption and to save democracy.”
Veteran socialist leader and President of Socialist Party of India, Bhai Vaidya, symbolized the arrest as ‘anti constitutional’ and following to it he added that the government has not allowed Anna Hazare to use his constitutional right.
Another strong reaction from Sanjay Khandalkar, general secretary of Janata Party (secular) said that by committing such an activity of arresting Hazare, the government has itself killed the Gandhian school of thought.
On the other hand, Santosh Pawar of anti-corruption and oppression committee said that Anna Hazare was arrested only after an order given by the higher authorities of the Delhi Police. He said, “The authorities should follow the Constitution and not just orders.”
Shikshan hakka Manch members staged a dharna near the PMC. Matin Mujarvar, President of the march said, “The government does not want a strong Lokpal Bill.”
Ajit Abhyankar, secretary, Communist Party of India, Pune district said that Hazare’s arrest was just an example of the pressurizing minorities by authorities.
He said, “Due to the policies such as privatisation and globalisation the corruption in the country has increased. There should be changes to reduce corruption. It will not reduce by arresting people who are protesting peacefully.”
Vasudev Sharma of All-India-Anti-Corruption Committee stated that the government did not lay down any proper justice to the members of the civil committee and therefore it has led to more and more anger among the people.
He added, “This ditching forced Anna to go on a hunger strike. It would have been avoided if the Jan Lokpal Bill would have been accepted by the central government for discussion.”
Many organizations came forward to commend the arrest of Hazare and supported this movement of fight against corruption. Hindu Jana Jagruti Samiti, Vande Mataram Organization, Pune’s Lawyers’ Action Committee, Janiv Organization, Yuvak Kranti Dal and Lohegaon residents association were some of the organization who supported the fight.
