Software that can prevent virus attacks on computers as well as minimize false alerts has got the Central Governments’ certificate for granting patent to an invention done by the city based techie.

The anti-virus software invented by Aniruddh Joshi, who is a Chief investigator of Center of Information and Network Security (CINS), center run by University of Pune, has got the recognition in the form of a patent certificate authorized by the Central Government of India.

Joshi who had had filed the proposal with central government and was waiting for many years to get the final nod for the patent has finally got it. The software, ‘the system of aggregating logs in a computer network’ is valid for 20 years from the date of filing.
While briefing about the information and network securities, Joshi said that wherever there are networks, security is of great important.

There are several security systems such as firewall and antivirus. However, management of security systems is also important. My work is related to this area of managed security services.

said Joshi.
Joshi said that this software will help to detect the attacks as well as avoid false attacks generated by security systems.

He further informed that this software was a part of the project undertaken by the CINS, which was submitted to the Union Ministry of IT in 2003.

The project had received a funding of Rs 4.4 crore from the government. CINS was established in 2002 with a vision to develop security systems for computer networks

Now, we are planning to start some degree courses in network and securities under University of Pune,” said Joshi. “We already have postgraduate diploma and certificate courses but the as demand for skilled manpower from the industry is growing, we are thinking of widening our activity. The aim is to create indigenous manpower and solutions for indigenous issues in network and securities

he said.
