As winter started to set in the city, there is sudden rise in the consumption of the eggs. It has reached to 20 lakhs per day! The demand is growing day by day and there are possibilities that this will again go up in the days to come when winter properly sets in.
When asked to the Vice Chairman of the National Egg Coordination Committee, about the rise in the eggs consummation, Mr. Raju Bhosale said
While there is a 10 per cent increase in demand every year, consumption has also increased greatly this year because of winter
said Raju Bhosale, vice chairman, National Egg Coordination Committee. Bhosale said that it was likely to increase further in the coming weeks.
We expect the demand will go up to 25 lakh in the coming weeks
Bhosale added.
He further added that the production of the eggs from the nearby areas is around 14 lakhs. The remaining 6 lakhs come from the southern part of the country.
Therefore, after the rise in the consumption there will surely be rise in the price as well. When asked to the food trader the reason behind the high rise in the eggs price he said
Prices of almost every item, from vegetables, pulses and cereals, have increased compelling people to opt for eggs as well
said a wholesale egg trader.
