City girl receives Dr, Manmohan Singh Scholarship

‘If you have a metal, it can be proven anywhere,’ has finally come true for the city based girl, Aquila Mukund Mavalankar, a student of University of Pune. She has been singled out for the Dr. Manmohon Scholarship to take up higher study at the Cambrigde University for the year 2010-2012.

This scholarship was launched by the Cambridge University in the year 2007 to honor Indian Prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. Dr. Singh graduated from the same university.

The city girl, who is among the selected candidates for this programme has left for England to take up her further studies. The amount for Dr. Manmohan scholarship is around 35,000 pounds and is for those who are aspiring to do their research work in the fields like Science, Technology, Economics and Social Sciences.

When talked to her father about her daughter’s accomplishment he said

She was a bright student and her career record was great all along. After she completed her course, there wasn’t much contact between us.

He also said, before moving to London she met Dr, Manmohan Singh as that will be her inspiration in her studies.
