City branch of Maharashtra Sahitya Parishad (MSP) is aiming at compiling literary work based on sculptures, paintings, films and other forms of literature existed during 1950 to 2000. This array of rich literature will be incorporated in the volume of a book series on history of Marathi Literature within a month.
Sahitya Academy Awardee Dr. Vasant Abaji Dahake will release the compilation of Marathi literature volumes here in the city on 8 February. Apart from this, the MSP is also working on the modification of the first and second part of the second volume by adding criticism by the saints of Maharashtra. This added edition of the volume second will be published separately on January 29.
The second part of the volume three covers distinguished contemporary literary figures such as Anand Yadav, Shankar Patil and PL Deshpande. The MSP had published the first book of Marathi literature in 1983, which covered Marathi literature from 1350 AD to 1650 in a series of volumes.
“The second part of volume three is unique in the sense as it covers traditional literature as well as literary work on various art-forms like dance, drama, movies along with scholarly articles on Marathi grammar and other relevant topics,” working president of MSP Pune, Dr. VB Deshpande said while interacting with the reporters here in the city.
The compilation of the volume also brings out rare photographs of the then literary figures, sculptures, paintings and so and so forth.
The book also has rare photographs of contemporary artists and many useful appendices included
he said, informing that the editing task will be handled by Prof RG Jadhav, who is a renowned critic and a retired-professor of Marathi literature.
Madhvi Vaidya, the chief of the Pune branch of the MSP said that city branch is the only branch among four other branches in the state to take up the compilation work of history of Marathi literature. She said,
