The organization for railway commuters and individual travelers from the city has demanded for an additional parking space for two wheelers at the Pune railway station after the parking arrangement was done by the railway authority for the auto rickshaws at the main entrance of Pune railway station. They suggested for using the vacant place in front of the main building of the Pune railway station.
The parking arrangement for the auto rickshaws was recently rearranged by the railway authorities at the main entrance. Along with this the large plot in the station campus has been cleared that is still lying vacant.
The president of the Railway Pravasi Group, Harsha Shah told TOI that the commuters and visitors at the railway station face the problem of two wheeler parking, as there is no any parking arrangement near the station. However, there are two parking lots at the station but are not convenient.
She also said that these parking arrangements are insufficient to fulfill the rising demand of parking space taking into account the daily visitors to the station. She also demanded for the restriction for the unauthorized parking at the station.
According to Hemant Tapale, president of Pune Mumbai Railway Pravasi Sangh, there must be additional parking for travelers because there are around 5,000 people who travel on Pune Mumbai route daily, who need the additional parking.
