Instead today, on my way to work, I was greeted by an almost empty road, after being forewarned by a neighbor to ‘be careful and stay off the main roads’. The amount of cars on the road was cut down by 90% and it’s the fastest I’ve ever gotten to the office. Supposedly there is a nationwide ‘bandh’ due to the recent raise in fuel prices. A few predictable moves that follow a fuel price hike is the inevitable raise in veggie prices and the almost there bandh to protest the price hike.
The nationwide bandh has been called by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies, taking the aam aadmi’s protest to the streets and are demanding a roll back. Initially bandhs were effective as they force the city to incur financial losses by paralyzing the system. In 2008 the Supreme Court banned these bandhs and even charged the BJP and the Shiv Sena fines after they called a bandh in Mumbai. Today, a bandh isn’t as effective as it used to be. Instead of driving into the office to work, professionals opt to work from home and students take the day offlto catch on extracurricular activities – for the rest of the population, it’s ‘just another holiday’. The next day, life picks up where it left off.
Having a majority of the traffic off the roads today was a welcome change although, it did give me the sense of driving into work on a holiday – which is never fun!

My programmer is trying to persuade me to move to .net from PHP. I have always disliked the idea because of the expenses. But he’s tryiong none the less. I’ve been using WordPress on a number of websites for about a year and am anxious about switching to another platform. I have heard very good things about blogengine.net. With havin so much content do you ever run into any problems of plagorism or copyright infringement? My website has a lot of unique content I’ve either created myself or outsourced but it looks like a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my agreement.
