Robert Altman once remarked, “Film-making is a chance to live many lifetimes”. And the art of film-making is not meant for adults alone. Children, with their creative imageries and fantastical train of thoughts can sometimes weave a plot that can touch millions of hearts. In an effort to educate these young imaginative minds on the art of film-making, Comet Media Foundation, Mumbai; the department of communication media for children of SNDT University and Aman Setu School is organizing a workshop for children from November 10 to 13 in Pune.
“The workshop basically aims at enabling children to explore films as a mode of creative expression. It will focus on the basics of film-making, and few important technical aspects of storyboarding, and pre and post-production,” said Radha Misra, head of the department of communication media for children, SNDT at a press conference.
The venue for the four-day camp is Aman Setu on Lohegaon-Wagholi Road, Pune, and will expose children to internationally acclaimed short-films and introduce them to the art of film-making. The workshop is open for children between the age group of 12 to 16 years, and any child who has an older or younger sibling in the age groups of 8 to 11 and 16 to 18, then the sibling cold also join in.
“Children are expected to bring their own laptop and a camera at least on the final day of the workshop,” said Madhvi Kapoor, founder of Aman Setu School. The camp fee is Rs 4,000, which includes transportation, lunch, course material, and a certificate. Interested children must draw cheques in favor of Madhavi Kapoor Foundation.
The workshop will be conducted between 9 am and 3 pm on the scheduled dates by the directors of Comet Media Foundation, Chandita Mukherjee and Misra.
“I think it is a very different and noble initiative. Children when exposed to creative activities will learn to think more effectively and aim to achieve greater things in life by exploiting their innate abilities,” Radhika Shukla, a resident of Aundh, Pune.
