The H1N1 influenza has taken a heavy toll of 362 lives in the city so far this year and continues to attack the city. The disease claimed five more lives on the weekend; one on Saturday followed by four on Sunday. Among the five recent victims three belong to the rural areas.
The District Information Officer was talking to the correspondents on Monday. He gave some information about the victims. As per this information, a resident of village Kharpur in the District of Pune Dattu Sitaram Talape (55) breathed his last at the Yashawantrao Chavhan Memorial Hospital due to swine flu on Saturday. Talape was suffering from the ailment from the 16th of August and was not responding positively to the treatment in the hospital.
A resident of the village Karjule Harya in the Ahmednagar District of Maharashtra Varsha Vishnu Kokate (27) gave in to the disease on August 22. She was admitted to the Noble Hospital. She was suffering from fever, breathlessness and throat infection from August 11. As a result of declining immunity she died on Sunday.
On the same day, Tanaji Vaman Kshirsagar (40), a resident of Chintamaninagar in Hadapsar succumbed to death after having suffered from the H1N1 from August 17. A youth called Dattatray Chandrashekhar Ambige (21) of Manjari village in the district of Pune died on Sunday, August 22 at the Sasoon Hospital. He showed positive H1N1 results on August 11. In yet another instance of H1N1 victims, Dilshad Anwar Sheikh (26) living in Gavalinagar, Bhosari yielded to the ailment at the Sasoon Hospital on Sunday, the same day on which he showed positive H1N1 results.
Adding to the worries of the Health department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), 16 new cases showing positive results of swine flu were detected on Sunday. This has taken the number of positive cases up to alarming 1,590 since April this year. Among these 22 patients have been kept in the critical centers and have been showing poor immunity response. According to the official reports, all these critical cases have been kept on ventilators at various hospitals in the Pune district.
More than 2,500 people were given a medicine called Tamiflu on Sunday all over the District in order to develop immunity against the disease. Over 250 patients have been admitted to various hospitals in Pune. 130 among those are H1N1 positive and 181 others are said to have caught the infection.
Doctors have shown great concern about the increasing number of H1N1 victims. The disease had attacked the city last year also and this year necessary measures had been taken by the Health Department of the PMC in order to curb the spread of Swine Flu. But the measures seem insufficient as we see the heavy toll the ailment has taken so far.

Most of what you state is astonishingly appropriate and it makes me wonder why I had not looked at this in this light previously. This article really did switch the light on for me as far as this subject goes. However there is actually just one factor I am not necessarily too cozy with and while I try to reconcile that with the core theme of the issue, let me observe exactly what all the rest of your visitors have to point out.Nicely done.
