Flu has been active in the city for more than three months; and is still spreading around pushing the death toll high. It has taken so far 80 lives.
According to Ashok Mehta, Joint Director of State Health Services, the throat swab report of Aishwarya Somnath Kotwal (2), a resident of Urali Kanchan, Haveli taluka, showed the presence of the flu symptoms. She died at the Sassoon hospital at 10.10 am on Monday.
Before being admitted to the Sassoon hospital on October 11, Aishwarya was treated at a private hospital in Urali Kanchan and later at a private hospital in Hadapsar. She was critical at the time of admission and had to put on a ventilator,
said Mehta.
Jayshree Hanumant Waghmare, twenty seven years old, a resident of Rahuri, breathed last on Tuesday. “She had delivered a baby through Caesarean section at Rahuri on 1 Sep.
When asked about the details of the deceased, he said

Meanwhile, 11 people tested positive for the flu symptoms on Tuesday. Around 6,501 people were screened across the district, of which 529 suspected patients were given Tamiflu. Some 29,830 people have been given the drug so far, said Mr. Mehta.
