FTII student sent back to Nepal under the pretext of involvement in ‘anti-national activities’

FTII StudentA student from city based Film and Television Institute of India has been deported to Nepal under the alleged involvement in ‘anti-national activities’. Neetu Singh, a resident of Nepal and a forth year student of the editing course at the FTII, has been alleged to be involved in anti-national activities in the city.

Ravindara Sengaonkar, DCP, (Special Branch) confirmed the news and explained the reason why she was deported to Nepal,

Decision of deporting Neetu Singh to Nepal was made considering her involvement in anti-national activities

When asked about the reasons behind deporting the student to Nepal, the police officer refused to divulge further details.

When there was no such reason cited and made public that can prove Neetu Singh’s involvement in the anti-national activities, then why has the city police acted irresponsibly and sent the girl back to Nepal,

asked Kiran Moghe, an activist of the All India Democratic Women’s’ Association. The AIDWA has taken up the case and demanded the justice for Neetu Sungh.

It’s being said that the only reason behind sending Neetu to Nepal is that Pune police is doing all this at the instance of her husband Amaresh Singh, a powerful person and a nominated Member of the Parliament in Nepal.

Kiran Moghe, who wrote to the Pune police seeking for the details of the incident, spoke to the reporters here in the city and said that no official was ready to provide me with the details regarding Neetu’s case. Why Pune police is talking about the anti-national activities she was engaged in, why don’t they reveal the truth if there is any? Moghe asked.

The girl has been handed over to her parents in Katmandu after being found that she was co-operating some organizations for anti-national activities in the city.

Moghe also showed some clues of the girl being in contact with the AIDWA. She was being harassed by her husband who wanted her to give up the course and go back to Nepal. She said that the girl was picked up by some women police from the FTII and was sent back to Nepal.

If she has indulged in anti-national activities here, police should have filed a case and tried her in India instead of sending her back to Nepal

Moghe said and alleged that police had acted in connivance with Amresh Singh.
