Google has introduced its Transit service in Pune, which shall enable public transit information as easy to find as any other geographic location. Pune became the third Indian city after Delhi and Bangalore to get the Transit service. Google has added Pune city bus service, PMPML, public transport information to Google Maps. The new service, which one can access through desktop or mobiles, will provide bus schedules and routes for all 320 PMPML buses.
Pune PMPML commuters can receive information in the following way:
- The commuter must search for information to reach place B from place A on Google Maps
- The result would then show a map depicting the route and driving directions to reach the desired destination
- Once the commuter selects the transit option, he or she would get first hand information on Pune’s routes and schedules
- Commuters get to see systematic directions for the entire route, which includes frequency, total duration of the travel for every leg of the trip in next and on the map.
Google commented in its blogpost that its Transit service helps tourists and commuters find their way around a city using buses.
“I have used the Google Transit service, and I must say it is of great help especially when someone is new to the city. I am glad the service is available in Pune now, and hope that more and more people make use of it,” said Manoj Dighe, an IT professional working in Pune.
