The death toll in the city is going up day by day. With the recent two deaths in the Pune district due to flu infection, the death toll of the flu victims has gone up to 99. The deceased were residents of Ambegoan and Chakan respectively.
The first victim, Navanath Thore of Chakan in Khed taluka succumbed to the H1N1 at Yashavantrao Hospital in Pimpri on Tuesday.
The other being, a twenty eight old, Surekha Chaure from Ambegoan breathed last on Tuesday at YCM Hospital. She was eight month pregnant. Before being shifted to at YCM, she was treated at various hospitals in the city such as Manchar, and as later admitted to Nirmay hospital at Bhosari. After her condition started becoming critical, she was finally taken to the YCM hospital where she took her last breathe on Tuesday.
The Joint Director of Health Services, Dr. Pundit Chavan, said that her swab report sent to virology department clearly showed her being positive with the H1N1 symptoms.
Talking about the total deaths that are reaching hundred, he said that out of the total casualties happened in the state, 98 were women and 106 were of men. People who are suspected to be positive of the flu symptoms are being given the tamiflu tablets and the ones who are critical undergoing the treatments at different hospitals in the city.
