With most of the schools in the city going hi-tech, some of them have started giving homework online. Bishop’s school is one of them; in fact, this is the first school which started this tradition. This is going to be an added workload to all the mothers as they will have to log in to their child’s account to find out the homework assigned by the teacher. The homework will be put on the home-website of the school.
It helps parents to verify and tally the homework with the work written in the school diary

This initiative was welcomed by all the mothers as a mother of Anuskha Vadepurakal, a UKG student of Bishops school, feels that this concept will work well, especially when a child is unable to attend school for some reasons like sickness or fever.
Instead of calling her classmates to enquire about the homework given, I can just go online and check,
she says.
However, there are some hurdles as well as it is a big task for mothers to copy or to print the homework given or will have to save it in pen-drive and it is really a cumbersome task, she adds.
“The facility was really helpful during swine-flu, when the school was shut for more than a week. Even the parents were happy that instead of wasting time at home, children were able to access lessons to be taught at school through the school’s website,” says a Sumana Manadal, a junior wing coordinator, Delhi Public School.
But what about those parents who don’t have internet facility or computer at home?
As an alternative for those who do not have computer accessibility or the knowledge to download homework, we note the same in the students’ school diaries, as was done earlier

The other option for the parents who don’t have internet or computer at home is take print-outs from the respective school.
The other city based school Vidya Valley also initiated this move during the swine flu; as almost all the schools were shut for the weeks
All the teachers and parents were worried about the completion of the syllabus. So we uploaded various worksheets on the Internet, which kept the students busy as well as updated

How the online homework facility works?
Parents will be given the pass-word and username when they will admit their child into school. The allotted passwords and usernames can be used by the parents when they want to check their kid’s home work, progress report and fees payment on the school website.
