Located close to the University of Pune, Gordon House is a little hotel that is big on style. Housed at the back of one of Pune’s well known multiplexes, E-square, this hotel has the added bonuses of being attached to a whole lot of extras like Crossword, Not Just Jazz, Endurance Fitness Club and ofcourse the 5 screens.
This quaint hotel has an elegant décor and is completely equipped to make you feel at home. With 38 rooms, each designed to a different theme, impeccable taste is apparent in rooms that are livable in. Their Scandinavian Rooms have contemporary design elements combined with warm colors. The minimalist look almost reflects a North European flavor. The English Country themed rooms are a bit more rustic and have wood flooring and furniture and apple green and white paneled walls. Switching to an asian theme, the ‘Zan & Now’ Suite takes you to a different realm with its oriental designs. And ofcourse who can miss out on the Italian job done with the Don’s Den Suite – think luxury, mahogany and class.
Gordon House does well as a residence for business patrons who come into the city. With their business centre, secretarial assistance and even providing laptops and mobiles on hire, they come across as going the extra distance.
The fact that Gordon House comes in the same premises of a multiplex which has its own food court and is just adjacent to a shopping mall can be a added plus to guests at the hotel, who do not have the luxury of too much time to travel (business people). Crossword has a medium sized bookstore in the same multiplex and the next building has a large book store called Odyssey. The Food court has Chinese, south Indian, Italian, North Indian and their version of street food available.
Another highlight that definitely deserves a mention is the fitness centre at Gordon House. Endurance Fitness Club qualifies as one of the top fitness centers in Pune. It has a terrace swimming pool that is an attractive addition.
The hotel has one in-house restaurant called All Stir Fry, which serves oriental cuisine. It captures the essence of street kitchen of the orient and a definite try out is ‘The Quick Wok’ – a noodle bar that allows you to put your own meal together. You pick the ingredients and tower them in a bowl, pick a sauce of your choice and the chef mixes it up for you in a hot wok with stock.
I would recommend Gordon House for someone who is in town on business only. It is close to one of the busiest spots in the city during the day and not exactly a ‘vacation hotel’.

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface.coach purses If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.
