What do you do when your government isn’t as innovative as you want it to be, or think it can be? You do it yourself, like the gen-next of today’s Indian youth! This is exactly what Mukesh Jha and Janardhan Prasad have done in their adopted hometown of Pune. One, a director of marketing and operations and the other a director of products and services, the two IIT graduates put their heads together and devised a system where service is directly provided to consumer, saving a wastage of time, energy and ofcourse a whole lot of haggling.
In February 2010, the duo launched ‘India Commutes’. Their website shows statistics of complaints by people who commute by rickshaws and explains how this system works. Experiencing the combination of technology, people and businesses in various cultures, the widely traveled duo decided to utilize their skills and knowledge in a new venture of Social Entrepreneurship’. After a trial run in the city for the month of April, armed with 50 rickshaws, the creators feel that the PCMC area was ready for the ‘Dial-an-Auto-Rickshaw’ service. Armed with 120 rickshaws InCom launched on the 1st of May. An apt day to come into force as Maharashtra celebrated its 50th foundation day.
The aim of India Commutes is to create a better and more reliable commute system, without putting more vehicles on the roads or installing expensive devices, but by simply creating a system that works with what the city currently has. Its about time someone organized the Rickshaw system into something that worked for the consumer too.
Currently on its Pilot run, InCom offers convenience to both- drivers and commuters, cost effectiveness, a safe commute and saves fuel in a wider perspective. While on its Pilot run, InCom is run privately with an informal tie up with rickshaw drivers, but the duo want government agencies to take over the facility while they continue to run it for them, in the long run. They also aim to have more Autorickshaws running on CNG.
While the government looks at the project coming from the private sector as being laudable, the president of the Autorickshaw drivers association says that it is a welcome initiative.
Commuters can avail of this service by calling 9922904000 and requesting a rickshaw. Drivers and Commuters get confirmations via SMS with approximate rates.

I think that everything composed was actually very reasonable. But, what about this? suppose you were to create a awesome post title? I ain’t suggesting your content isn’t good, however suppose you added a post title that makes people desire more? I mean India Commutes in Pune! is a little boring. You could peek at Yahoo’s front page and note how they create article titles to grab people interested. You might add a video or a related pic or two to get readers excited about what you’ve written. Just my opinion, it might make your posts a little bit more interesting.
