Pune gets ‘flu vac’ to the rescue; SII brings to Pune for the first time a SAVIOUR:
The Swine Influenza is an infection by any one of various types of swine viruses. Swine descent influenza virus is any anxiety of the influenza family that is endemic in pigs. As of 2009, the known strains include influenza and its subtypes known as H1N1, H1N2, H3N2, and H2N3.
In addition to the future prevention with a vaccination, and treatment with anti-viral medications, the flu currently, is treated symptomatically with medications to treat the specific signs of the individual’s illness. Such as anti-emetics for vomiting and medications to treat diarrhoea, analgesics for the aches and pains, fever reducers, and former typical medications for the indicators that are similar to all viral influenzas.
Based in Pune, The Indian medical firm, The Serum Institute of India (SII) announced recently that the swine flu vaccine ‘Flu vac’ would be available in the market by May 2010. SII started the preparation procedures after several phases where two to three of the clinical human trials of the nasal form of vaccines were tried on 330 participants at different locations around the country.
Dr Prasad Kulkarni, Director, Clinical trials at SII stated, “We got the green signal from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) on March 5 to carry out advanced safety tests on the swine flu vaccine.”
As per reports, 330 patients divided widely in three groups of Pediatrics, Adult and elderly and others will be put under this trial. A dose of the swine flu vaccine developed with egg-based technology will be initially tested in the four most affected cities across India.
SII announced that the cost of the vaccine for single dosage will be in the order of Rs 200. At the same time, it would be available globally at a cost approximately between $9 to $15.
Other Indian pharmaceutical players who have joined the race for swine flu vaccinations are Ahmadabad based Pharmacy major ‘Zydus Cadila,’ SII is the second company to have started Phase two and phase three trials.
Pharmaceutical companionships such as Bharat Biotech and Panacea Biotech are also working on this immunization. Pandyflu is an indigenous brute flu vaccine, which is being urbanized by Panacea Biotech.
Recently, Biological E Limited, a major pharmacy hub and vaccine manufacturing Indian company, joined hands with American Vax Innate Corporation, a privately held biotechnology company, to license its recombinant ‘H1N1 pandemic swine flu vaccine.’
We keep being told preventions and precautions. Swine fu has now mellowed down but there is no guarantee that such an epidemic will not hit the streets again.

Today, I went to the beachfront with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had to tell someone!
