The MIT College of Engineering (MITCOE) always wants its students to be team players rather than mere receivers in the knowledge building process. The college always ensures constant intellectual challenges by encouraging students in taking up industry based and in-house research projects in the relevant technological fields.
Co-curricular Activities:
MITCOE is always busy grooming students through a number of co-curricular activities like soft skill development programmes, additional technical skill development workshops and the like. Extracurricular Activities:
The aim of the institution is not to produce just a book worm. MITCOE rather tries for the all round development of the students and so extracurricular activities like sports and cultural events are organized here.
Facilities:
MITCOE boasts of one of the regal infrastructures in Pune. The state of the art infrastructure here is indeed of international standards and outruns the stipulated requirements of any discipline of study. The IT infrastructure of the college has more than 200 PCs having three servers maintained by professional system managers. Round the clock web access enables the students to extend the frontiers of their knowledge.
1) Library:
MITCOE focuses on quality and not just on the quantity when it comes to library management. The college library houses the best reference books on various course contents dealing with technical and management subjects. Best technical journals too are subscribed. The project of making a fully digital library with CD ROM servers is almost done and will definitely make the library procedure easier.
2) Hostel Facilities:
MIT owns two huge hostels; one each for the boys and the girls separately. The four storied hostel building with 20 rooms on each floor with the accommodation capacity of 240 stands in the salubrious surroundings. Girls’ Hostel in the Indrayani Building can accommodate 80 girls. Both the hostels are at the walking distance from the main college building and have been constructed in the decent locality which is the prime need of the hostelites.
3) Internet Center:
Learning Resources Center popularly known as Internet Center is on the first floor of the Shari Saint Dnyaneshwar World Peace Library. The center acknowledges the importance of computer studies in today’s age of speed and provides all the necessary facilities to the internet surfers. IT store here provides floppies and CDs to the students at reasonable rates.
4) Career and Placement Department:
MITCOE runs a career guidance center as a gateway to aspired career. It aims at making MITians excellent and competent professionals and globally employable. The placement department has achieved the record employment percentage of 98. The department aims at training future batches of the first and the second year engineering of all branches. MITCOE has already signed MoUs with many world class companies and the institute plans to sign MoUs with many more like those in the near future.

Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
