MNS urges civic administration to give priority to Marathi people in the city

pmc pune cityFollowing warnings and urging the private as well as government agencies in the state to give priority to Marathi Manoos, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has now requested the Pune Municipal Corporation to follow the same while giving permission to hawkers in its proposed special zones in the city.

said Kiisshor Shinde, MNS corporator and city MNS Youth wing chief.

In a letter addressed to Municipal Commissioner Mahesh Zagade, MNS has praised and welcomed the civic administration’s move to reserve special zones for hawker’s to set up food plazas and food courts across the city.

The civic administration should give Marathi names to the food plazas and food courts it is planning across the city

he said.
The PMC has planned on starting late night plazas and food courts on roads with less traffic and some in the densely populated areas of the city on the daily basis.

In a document issued by the civic administration, PMC said that it won’t allow any individual or agency to prepare and the sale of food materials in the city except approved hawkers.

The Civic administration is planning to reserve some roads for weekly food courts on holidays and weekends. It is also looking forward to reserve highly crowded places like schools, bus stations, colleges, heritage sites, gardens, theaters, and railway stations in the city.

It will be mandatory for construction that falls under the category of urban renewal scheme, reconstruction of old buildings, and slum rehabilitation, to reserve commercial enterprise for products of daily use like vegetables, dairy and bakery products, said a civic official.
