Pune’s Century old ‘Kesari Marattha Trust,’ founded by Lokamanya Tilak, has declared to confer upon the ‘Lokmanya Tilak Journalist Award’ to one of the vibrant voices in Indian Journalism, N Ram Editor-in-Chief of ‘The Hindu.’

On announcing the name for the award on Wednesday, Editor- Kesari and the trustee said that they confer this award on a person who has extraordinarily contributed to Indian Journalism; and the first name on their minds was N Ram, Editor in chief of ‘The Hindu’ Newspaper.

We also consider the involvement he/she has done to the Indian Journalism that is of national importance

he said.

Tilak further informed that Kesari will celebrate its 129th year of foundation on 4 January. The award ceremony will also coincide with the celebration at Kesari Wada at 6 pm. The award comprises of Rupees 1 lakh along with a memento.

Tilak said,

This award was established to recognize the contribution Lokmanya Tilak had done to Indian journalism during the pre-independence era. By remembering his contribution, this award is bestowed on the personality who has given a mammoth effort to bring back the golden times.

N Ram, as a journalist has been a sign for excellence and the truthfulness in Indian journalism. He has contributed abundant articles for magazines like Economics and Political Weekly, Quarterly Journal of the Institute of Defense Studies and Analysis, New Delhi. The Jayantrao Tilak Award will also be presented in the same evening.
