Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation will receive a grant of 68.72 crore under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) scheme for development projects in the PCMC area. The national sanctioning committee of the Union government has approved the amount.
The chief of the PCMC’s JNNURM cell, Neelkanth Poman, stated that the state urban development department sent the letter to PCMC informing the sanctioning of the grant by national sanctioning committee on Thursday.
The Union government has approved the grant of Rs 15.08 crore for phase II of sewerage system projects, Rs 44.82 crore for water supply projects and Rs 8.8 crore for solid waste management projects
Poman said adding that the civic body will get this amount in the month of December.
The PCMC officials said that the civic body has received a grant of Rs.2.546 crores for the development projects in the civic area. The total amount civic body has received so far is of around Rs 679.48 crore.
With the sanctioned amount, PCMC has undertaken many development projects such as augmentation of water supply, four sewage teatime plans, and solid waste management.
