Peshwe Park in Pune

If you come to Pune and don’t visit the Peshwe Park, you will miss the real fun. Peshwe Udyan/ park is a zoo beside the famous Saras Baug in Pune. The zoo adds to the beauty of the city of Pune and is loved by the young and the old alike. Come you must to this beautiful place to see the various species of birds and animals, beautiful lake, the garden and also the temple. Peshwe Udyan is indeed a wonderful picnic spot.

Where is it located?
Peashwe Park is located just a couple of kilometers away from the Swargate station towards west. This zoo is right next to the garden called Saras Baug. In fact it can be called an extension to the Saras Baug.

History behind the Making of the Zoo:
The history of this zoo takes us to the days of Peshwa Regime. The place where a zoo stands at present used to be the Shikarkhana (a place for hunting) of the Peshwas. When the construction of the Ganesh temple in Saras Baug was going on as per the instructions of Sawai Madhavrao and Mahadji Shinde, the then existing lake had to be dug out and while digging it large quantity of sand was cast aside. Later the Peshwas utilized this sand for planning plenty of trees and made the area thick green.

In modern times the Pune Municipal Corporation constructed a big zoo on this site as a part of major renovation of the area around Saras Baug. Taken into consideration the contribution of the Peshwas to this place the zoo was rightly named as Peshwe Udyan/park.

Today Peshwe Park is considered to be one of the most important tourist spots in Pune as well as one of the most spacious gardens in the city.

The Zoo:
The zoo is indeed a place for fun and also for learning. Especially the children are so excited to come here. Parents always prefer the Peshwe Park to many other places in Pune when it comes to taking their children along.

The real excitement and the main attraction in the zoo is of course a number of species of animals and birds together. Children feel ecstatic to see different animals at a handshake distance. Among the other attractions in the zoo, the toy train, an elephant ride and boating in the lake can be mentioned as the chief ones.

The beautiful lake in the garden brings in the cool breezes in the zoo. You can see the couples young and the old along the lake.

A play park has been made especially for kids which is no doubt a fountain of pleasure for the children. The slides and the swings along with the see saw draw children towards this play park.

The Gardens Inside:
The Pune Municipal Corporation has put in a lot of efforts to enhance the beauty of the area. You can see beautiful gardens all around in the Peshwe Park. The maintenance of the gardens is the responsibility of the PMC and it has been shouldered well so far. The gardens have a soothing effect on your eyes with their lush green well manicured lawns and beautiful flower beds drenched in different colors.

Spring is the season when the beauty of the gardens is at its best. Beautiful flowers blooming and blossoming briskly look like ornaments.

Only recently an energy park has been set up in the Peshwe Udyan which occupies an area of over five acres. This is an attempt to increase the general awareness regarding the importance and the need of non-conventional sources of energy.

The Ganesh Temple:
A beautiful Ganesh temple in the zoo premises is yet another attraction here. This holy shrine of Lord Ganesh is an exquisite piece of art. The carvings in the temple wall and the decorations add to the beauty of this excellent piece of architecture. The temple is always crowded with the devotees of Lord Ganesh.

A Perfect Place for a One Day Trip with Family:
If you are listing down the places in and around Pune to arrange a one day trip, Peshwe Udyan/park should be among the first few in the list. Away from the common din of city life, keeping all your mundane hurries and worries at bay, a day in Peshwe Zoo with your family will refresh you through and through.

Timings:
Peshwe Park is open from 09.00am to 5.30 pm on all seven days of the week.

How to get there?
The Peshwe Park being one of the most popular places in the city, getting there is easy. It is pretty close to the Swargate Station. Any city bus from Swargate coming inside the city will take you to the Peshwe Udyan/Park. If you are at Deccan, you can take a bus to Swargate and get down near Mehendale House. From Mehendale House, a 5 minute walk towards your left will take you to the Peshwe Udyan. However hiring an auto rickshaw is the best option.

Food:
Foodies need not worry. Hundreds of snacks stalls are literally crammed in together outside the Peshwe Park. You can please your palate here with any dish you want.

So, when are you planning a trip to Peshwe Udyan/Park?

As you prep your house for your 1st open house, be sure to view it through the eyes of a possible purchaser. Ensure that the entire house is tidy and that it looks appealing. Turn on all the lights in the house so each room feels inviting and warm. Where you are able to, do a little staging. This might include arranging some reading material out on a living room table, or putting some fresh flowers on the kitchen table. Lots of families take the time to bake some baked goods or fresh bread to give the house a comfortable and appealing ambiance.

Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.

First of all I want to say wonderful blog! I had a quick question which I’d like to ask if you don’t mind. I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear your mind prior to writing. I have had trouble clearing my thoughts in getting my ideas out there. I do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally wasted simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any ideas or hints? Many thanks!

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.
