Even 10 days after the brutal murder of 21 year old software engineer Darshana Tongare staying in Bavdhan, the Hinjewadi police are still groping in the dark with no clues of the murderer at hand. Desperately the police appealed the public on Sunday to help the department by coming forward with whatever information they have regarding the suspect.

The victim Darshana Devidas Tongare was a resident of Suvarna Park Society in Bavdhan Khurd. It was on 30^th of July after Darshana’s friend Abhijit Taru dropped her in the cut-off lane near the Maratha Mandir at Bavdhan that the terrible incident happened. She was brutally stabbed with a razor-sharp weapon in lower chest. She was immediately taken to the Sahayadri Hospital at Kothrud but couldn’t survive for too long and died after a couple of hours in the hospital.

Nirnajan Badde, also an engineer, is the only witness to this atrocious attack. When he saw the person stabbing the girl, he tried his level best to chase and catch the suspect, but the suspect was too quick to flee from the spot. It was Niranjan himself who took Darshana to the hospital but the wound was so deep that she succumbed to death soon after.

After the girl was stabbed she had spoken to her friend Taru on her mobile phone and had told him about the attack; but while being taken to the hospital, her cell was lost somewhere.

The Hinjewadi Police with the help of the Crime Branch is investigating the case. They are trying to find out the motive behind the murder and reach the suspect as well. But now it has been a ten day endeavor and the police have still not managed to find out anything substantial.

The police have appealed the people to help in every way possible in tracing the murderer. Darshana’s lost cell too is the missing link and hence the police have asked the people to inform them about the cell as well.

While talking to correspondents yesterday Inspector Nandkumar Bhonsale Patil from the Crime Branch said that people should be rest assured that names of those who offer help to the department will not be disclosed. He also told that Darshana’s cell phone is going to help a great deal in unveiling many facts related to the murder. In the meantime, around 400 laborers working on 10 different construction sites have been investigated. The police have also grilled 20 other names on the police records. Darshana’s relatives, friends and colleagues too have been questioned so far. Also an investigative team has been sent to Madhya Pradesh for tracing the links.
