Maharashtra has finally gone virtual. You can now pay your electricity bills from the comfort of your homes. All low-tension consumers (i.e. everyone except industries) can pay their bills online.
On Thursday, Ajit Pawar, Maharashtra’s energy minister inaugurated the new facility in Mumbai. At the inauguration ceremony were Subrato Rath, Energy Secretary; Ajay Mehta, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) managing director; Sharad Dabhade, Maruti Devare and Dattatreya Vavhal.
The MSEDCL launched its own payment portal aided by HDFC bank. Consumers will be able to pay their bills online using their credit and/ or debit cards. This facility is immediately available to the approximate of 1.5 crore customers, free of charge.
Although this facility has previously been available to residents of Kalyan, Pune, Nasik, Kolhapur, Nagpur and Bhandup; this is now available to residents across the state. Companies all across the state will also be able to make these payments online from their head offices.
To pay your electricity bills online go to www.mahadiscom.in. The helpdesk can be contacted through email at helpdesk_pg@mahadiscom.in.

Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
