Pune Police is going to enforce the window tint law from October 16. All vehicles with tinted windows will come under scrutiny and the traffic police will come down hard on those who disobey the law.
As per the Pune traffic department, the motor vehicle rules state that a car’s rear glass and windscreen should have 70% light reflectance and transmittance, whereas the window panes must have 50% light reflectance.
The law is going to be strictly enforced as analysis of crimes by the traffic department has shown that cars with tinted windows have been repeatedly used to commit heinous crimes like rapes, thefts, dacoities, among others.
“Earlier it was not possible for Pune Police to take viable action against cars with tinted windows because the traffic branch did not have the tint meters. But last month, Shreemanth Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapati trust has given the traffic department six tint meters for measuring light transmittance and reflectance,” said Manoj Patil (DCP) traffic, in a statement issued on Saturday
There are certain cars that need to use tinted car windows for security reasons. Owners of such cars must carry the valid documents allowing permission and issue them whenever asked by the traffic officials or by any concerned authority.
Residents of Pune have welcomed the initiative and are hopeful that it will help to bring down the crime rate in the city. “I think it is a very smart move on part of the traffic officials. Cars with tinted windows have been used as a crime ground for long time now. But the officials should make sure that the law is executed well and anyone not following it must face necessary consequences,” says Rajat Patil, a resident of Karve Nagar.

I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)
