We were confident about conducting the assessment online for a propos 25,000 students.”
Providing the infrastructure for an online assessment was a dispute, especially at the rural centers, as a specific minimum bandwidth is required for the internet connectivity. University teams however, visited every engineering college and confirmed the compatibility of the system. So there was assurance that the online examination would pass smoothly.”
When asked about the possibility of server troubles, identical to the one which plagued the CAT exam, Prof Garje said that they had developed software and a system that was compatible for the number of students expected to appear for the exam.
The proposal has already been passed and complete online examinations will start from June, the marking of the new semester. The software to be used is already ready and tested for the Multiple Choice Question Exams.
