Ram Temples in Pune can be a long topic of discussion. The Ram Temple built in the premises of the Pune Vidyarthi Griha (PVG), one of the famous educational institutes in Pune, can’t be ignored.

Lord Ram and Hindu Mythology:
Ram is the seventh incarnation of Hindu Lord Vishnu and the hero of the famous Indian epic Ramayana written by Rishi Valmiki. Many Indians also believe that Ram is a historical figure and not just a character of some imaginary work. Doesn’t matter what the truth is but Ram has always been the pivot of the Hindu culture and religion. The story part of the epic is a well knit plot introducing the reader with different divine qualities of Ram. We respect Ram for his obedience, his righteousness, his love for his parents and brothers, his love for his wife and his fidelity towards her and his ways of governing the empire. We meet an ideal son, an ideal brother, an ideal husband, an ideal friend and an ideal king in Ram. These qualities in him have imparted him the status of a deity in Hindu religion.
PVG Ram Temple:
Where is it located?
The Pune Vidyarthi Griha Ram Temple stands in the Sadashiv Peth area of the city of Pune. Around the temple you see the schools and a college run by the educational institute. The distance to this temple from the Swargate station is about 3 km and that from the Deccan Bus Stop is about 2 ½ km. Thus finding the place is not at all a big deal as it stands right in the middle of the city.

Radhabai Bhide in the memory of her late husband Mr. K. N. Bhide. The temple has a route for Pradakshina.
Ram Idol:
The beautiful idol of Lord Ram in marble has been crafted by Pandurang Patharkar. The Shloka “tarunau roopsampannau sukumarau mahabalau in the Ramraksha stotra (hymn) written by Budhkaushik Rishi has been taken into consideration while crafting the idol. It cost Rs. 1,000 at that time. The idol has been strategically crafted showing Ram and Lakshman as the students of Rishi Vishwamitra. The noble intent behind this was that students should take inspiration from the idol, follow the footsteps of Ram and be ideal students. The idols are around two and a half feet high and stand on the stone pedestal.
Every day early in the morning the priests offer Lord Ram pooja.
Ramnavami, the day when Lord Ram was born is celebrated here like a grand festival.
The garden in front of the temple and the clean surroundings enhance the beauty of the temple.

Thanks for your article. It’s very unfortunate that over the last several years, the travel industry has already been able to to handle terrorism, SARS, tsunamis, bird flu virus, swine flu, as well as the first ever real global downturn. Through everthing the industry has really proven to be strong, resilient along with dynamic, discovering new strategies to deal with hardship.
