Pune is blooming rapidly as one of the industrial hubs of the country. The contribution of the city to India’s engineering and automobile industries is being recognized worldwide as is the one to the field of education. Globally known as the Oxford of the East, Pune is blossoming as one of the important educational centers of Asia with many business schools and professional colleges opening new avenues for the next generations. As compared to the other industrial centers in the country, the rate of employment in Pune is far better.

For years together, Pune has been famous for the rich cultural heritage, glorious history, institutes providing quality education, progressing agribusiness and manufacturing establishments mostly on the outskirts of the city. While Pune has been making headway as a cosmopolitan city in Maharashtra, since the late seventies to be precise, the city continues to preserve the legacy of the past as well and boasts to be the cultural capital of Maharashtra. The main reason of the city acquiring the status of a cosmopolitan metro is the growing number of the multinational companies ensuring their presence here.

Over the last decade or so, a number of IT companies, research and development centers, manufacturing industry and corporate sector have perched in the city. Several MNCs are looking at Pune as their headquarter in India and hunting the young Indian talent. By and by the city is becoming a center of innovations.

The well developed educational infrastructure of the city and hence the much needed efficient workforce attract companies to set up research and development centers here. Pleasant climate, availability of the necessary natural resources, healthy industrial environment and propinquity to the Financial Capital of India- Mumbai-have encouraged the multinationals to nestle in the city. After the construction of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, the economical landscape of the city has shown sudden transformation.

The State Government, recognizing the importance of the city in the economical growth of Maharashtra, has introduced several novel policies to boost up the rapid all round progress of Pune. Encouragement by the Union Government has made the path of progress smoother for the city. Pune is emerging fast as an international player as regard the manufacturing and technology industries. Pune is close to most of the key markets in the country and hence becoming the first preference of many international companies.

In a nutshell, Pune is acquiring a global appeal and marching forth as a city that has got enough potential and talent. No doubt in the near future Pune will play a major role in Indian economy as well as global economy.
