The education department in the in the city has said that it has warned the schools in the city that those will not celebrate Republic Day will have to face serious action. Ramchandra Jadhav, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) education officer and the State Deputy Director of Education said that if any school is found not hoisting the national flag of India on January 26, it will be issued a show cause notice.
Jadhav has urged the activists, parents and students that if they find any school not celebrating Republic Day, they should immediately to report it to the educational board. He said that every year, many parent report that some schools, especially the English medium and the CBSE schools, do not to celebrate Republic Day. The Shikshan Hakk Parishad has also complained them regarding this.
Most of the school authorities say that they do celebrate Republic Day every year, and this year too, they have made arrangements to celebrate this day. The principal of Symbiosis School, Leena Chaudhari said that “We celebrate the day not just by hoisting the national flag, we also invite former students to give a speech. Apart from spreading the message about the importance of the day, this will also motivate students to do their work well because being called back to the school as a chief guest is quite an honour and our students like being part of the activity.”
The principal of DAV Public school said that the Republic Day celebration in the school was compulsory for the students. She remarked that “This is a regular feature at our school and I doubt there will be any school that does not celebrate the day. We ensure that our students don’t forget the significance of January 26.”
