Singhgad Fort is one the favorite picnic spot among Puneits. It is not only famous for picnic, but also a good trekking place. It is about 25 km away from Pune.
Singhgad Fort has great history behind it. Tanaji Malusare fought to regain this fort. Here you can see samadhi of Tanaji Malusare, samadhi of Rajaram Maharaj, dev taki, bunglows of Lokamaya Tilak and G D. madgulkar (famous marathi poet). Tower of Doordarshan Mumbai is also here on Singhgad.
Here on Singhgad, you get sweet curd, buttermilk, kanda bhaji and pithala bhakari which are famous among tourists. On the way back to Pune, you can also stop at Khadakwasla Dam.
