It’s time for some weather news, Puneites. Gear up to welcome the warmest season of the year. With both maximum and minimum temperatures in Maharashtra rising above 2 to 3 degrees normal, it is official now that summer has arrived.
“The transition from winter to summer has already taken place and we can declare officially now that summer has set it. As expected, the temperatures will continue to rise and there is absolutely no chance of any rainfall in the next 72 hours or more,” said India Meteorological Department (IMD), Pune, director for weather forecasting, Medha Khole.
However, over much of northern India cool temperatures still prevailed. Khole said that for western disturbances still prevailing over much of north India; it resulted in cloud cover and consequent rainfall, bringing down the minimum and maximum temperatures.
“I guess it is official now that the dog days – days those are exceptionally hot and humid – are here and it’s time for us to stay indoors, sip lemon juice and listen to some cool music. Summer season in Pune leaves you with a strange feeling, wherein you hate the scorching sun during the day, but love the windy balmy evenings,” said Kiran Saxena, a resident of Aundh.
