Ten students from the city have made it to the (NDA) National Defence Academy. They are short listed for the national test conducted by the NDA this year. Among these successful candidates, one is a son of havaldar and one is a son of police naik.
This entrance test is conducted by the Union Public Service commission (UPSC) in the month of April 2009 every year. This year about 2, 70,000 students had appeared for this exam.
The students who have short listed for the NDA are Allan Nagesh (rank54),Sumit Patil (450),Askash Pawar (408),Pritish Latkar (rank291),Abhijit Gosavi (rank260),Kiran Landge (rank246), Suhel Kadu (rank288),Vivek Gadre (rank 161) Gautam Sonar(rank117) and Sudharshan Jadhv (rank54).
They (those who cleared the exam) had the inspiration to work for the armed forces. Proper guidance made it possible for them to enter the NDA. More and more youngsters should come forward to join the armed forces
said Lt Col Pradeep Brahmankar of the Apex Career Academy.
Allan Nagesh, a son of business man, is a student of the loyla high school. He secured 54th rank in the NDA all India level examination, while Sudharashan, son of a conservator and who is also a first year student of the Maharastra Institute of Technology (MIT), ranked 94th in the exam The student of Army Public School Gautam, has got the rank 117th, is a son of retired naval officer.
Vivek Gadre, a resident of the Sukravar peth, is a student of the first year Bsc in Garvarae College. Abhjit Chavan and Suhel Kadu are son policemen. Their fathers are working with Deccan Police station.
Suhel’s father Prahlad Kadu is a police havaldar attached to the Deccan police station. Suhel has completed his education from the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), Deharadun. Abhijit’s parents are also working with police department. His father is a police naik in sanghvi police station and mother is working as a junior clerk in police commissioner’s office.
My son got the inspiration from the passing out parade of NDA. I was deputed at the NDA police chowky and used to take him to see the passing out parade. With the guidance of Rajendra Kulkarni, whose son was selected for RIMC, my son stood second in RIMC. That cleared his path for entry into the armed forces. It is a proud moment for all of us
said Abhijit’s father.
The total number of the students selected for the NDA is about 3,000 this year. They all will join course in the month of December.
