Two minor girls from Budhwar peth were rescued by the crime branch officials of Faraskhana police station on Tuesday. The rescued minors Rekha (name changed to protect identity) and Leela both under 16 are believed to be from Panvel and Kolkatta, respectively.
These minors were brought in the city by Payal and Pappu who later on forcibly made them work as prostitutes. They were promised a good job in the city. Rekha, resident of the Panvel was working as a prostitute for last two days, while Leela for two months.
When asked more about the trap, Rajaram Ghogare, crime branch personnel said,
We were given a tip off of the minors being imprisoned and forced into sex in the brothels of Budhwar Peth. We planned the trap and caught the main convict in the incident -Ragha Vankatesh Shetty, who made the minors work by thrashing. She is a resident of Tirupati who runs her own brothel at Sapna Bulding in Budhwar peth. She has been imprisoned and will be produced before the court on Saturday.
The minors who were rescued from the brothels have been kept in observation cell at Kondhva for few days. The minors underwent physical checking at Sasson Hospital.
This is the 33rd case in the city of minors being rescued from the clutches of the agent in the last one year 2009-10
